Ridgway – 1956 Whale Tail Custom Airstream
This magnificent travel trailer was custom designed, engineered and hand-built for a private individual. Named after the town of Ridgway, a picturesque location in the Southwest corner of Colorado, this Airstream is truly a Timeless Travel Trailer. We started with a 1956 19 foot Airstream Flying Cloud Whale Tail and transformed it to a 34 foot, wide body, 2014 Timeless Airstream. The polished shell sits atop a new custom chassis to ensure safety and performance. The tongue was built extra long to accommodate an Onan 5500 Watt, propane fired generator. To maintain a more vintage appearance the unit was equipped with two heavy duty axles.
The interior is completed with the finest finishes such as reclaimed, century-old wormy chestnut flooring, hickory walls, maple cabinetry and solid copper wall finishes. Upfront is a custom copper 13 segment end cap with a luxurious leather seating area with rustic reading lights.
The kitchen boasts three refrigerators, one is a dedicated wine cooler and the other 2 are low profile to keep an open feel. Countertops are made of cambria granite and provide ample space in both the cooking and bar area. The farm-style kitchen sink is handmade from solid copper sheets. The stainless steel range is a top of the line model from the yachting industry with three burners and an oven. On the curb side is a custom bar area with lighted racks for bottles and overhead hanging space for stemware.
That bath area boast an aluminum-lined shower with a reclaimed teak duck board bottom, a custom opaque porthole window, auto-tint shower door, and an organic shape, hand hammered copper sink and dedicated shaving mirror.
In the aft is a luxurious bedroom with a Jameson style headboard, custom pillow top mattress, lighted vanity, and under-bed storage area accessible from the interior and exterior. The bedroom has separate climate controls from the rest of the unit.
